Emraan Hashmi is once again making headlines. After his powerful cameo in The Ba***ds Of Bollywood, all eyes are now on Awarapan 2, the much-awaited sequel to the 2007 cult classic. The film is scheduled to release in 2026. Recently, speculation suggested that Manushi Chhillar had been cast opposite Emraan, but those rumours have now been dismissed.
According to an industry insider, there is no truth to the reports linking Manushi to the project. She has not been approached or considered for the role. The source further shared that the makers plan to announce the final cast very soon, including the actress who will take on the leading role.
What is certain is that Emraan Hashmi will reprise his central role in the film. Awarapan 2 is being produced by Mukesh Bhatt and Vishesh Bhatt under Vishesh Films and directed by Nitin Kakkar, best known for Filmistaan (2014). A major portion of the movie will be shot in Bangkok during a month-long schedule, which will cover nearly half the film. Another schedule is planned for November, with the shoot expected to wrap up by January 2026. The release date has been locked for April 3, 2026.
Earlier this year, producer Vishesh Bhatt opened up about what audiences can expect. He explained that while the first film was a gritty crime drama, the sequel will lean into emotions set against a backdrop of crime. According to him, Awarapan 2 will explore themes of inner conflict and darker human emotions, while still staying true to its big-screen cinematic appeal.
