Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer romantic drama Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha was released last week and despite the anticipation for the film, it failed to achieve double-digit collections. Helmed by Neeraj Pandey, the movie had a poor opening at the box office with just 1.7 crores INR on the first day. While the makers were expecting the movie to pick momentum over the weekend with positive word of mouth, it resulted in a weekend total of only 5.75 crores.

The lacklustre response was unexpected at the box office as the movie was one of the most anticipated romantic dramas of the year and everyone involved in the project could not have expected such a disappointing performance at the opening weekend given the superstar cast. While some movies fail due to delays and a lack of promotional campaigns, this was not the case with Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha. The bad timing of the release could be the cause of the unexpected and poor performance at the box office.

Disney’s latest release, Deadpool & Wolverine, has been making waves at the global box office with over-the-top audience response and cameos from the fan’s favourite characters from the Fox Studios acting as a fan service, the competition was tough to attract the audience to the ticket counters. The immediate challenge for the Ajay Devgn and Tabu starrer is to cross the 1 crore mark on Monday.

The film is expected to finish its first week with less than 10 crores in total earnings, and it may only add a minimal amount in the second week, even though there are no major new releases to compete with.
