Renowned Bollywood filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker is best known for directing critically acclaimed Hindi-language movies like LagaanSwades, and Jodhaa Akbar, and the filmmaker is all set to make his international debut with Hollywood studio Alcon Entertainment. As per the reports, Ashutosh Gowariker has been approached by the Hollywood studio to helm a musical series.

After watching top movies of Gowariker, the makers of the upcoming musical series approached the filmmaker as he fits the needs to direct an international series. As per the reports, the deal has been finalized and Ashutosh is currently working with his team on the details of the series. The speculated untitled musical series will be bankrolled by the production company, Alcon Entertainment, which co-produced iconic Hollywood sci-fi Blade Runner 2049. The studio has also worked with notable actors like Hugh Jackman, Sandra Bullock and Johnny Depp.

The project was expected to roll earlier but had to halt due to the ongoing novel Coronavirus pandemic. Currently, the makers are in the casting process and the studio is reportedly in talks with several well-known faces. The musical series is set to be shot across US and India. If everything goes as expected, it will be Ashutosh Gowariker’s first outing in the western land. The filmmaker’s earlier work, Lagaan starring Aamir Khan, was also nominated for the prestigious Oscar Awards.

On the other side, Gowariker last directed film was Panipat which starred Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in the prominent characters but failed to mint coins at the box office.
