COVID-19 has turned into a threat to our humanity which has taken more than a million people in its grip. While the pandemic has been brutal to everyone, it turned out to be the worst for daily wage workers amid the nationwide lockdown imposed in India. Lending support to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the government trying to curb the spread of the deadly virus, Shah Rukh Khan recently announced a series of initiatives via his group of companies.

Owned by Shah Rukh Khan, Kolkata Knight Riders, Red Chillies Entertainment, Meer Foundation and Red Chillies VFX announced an array of initiatives to help the government fight with the coronavirus meanwhile helping the poor with essential needs. Shah Rukh Khan’s group of companies will work together with a number of other organizations to provide food for 5500 families in Mumbai, 2000 meals to hospitals, 3 lakh meal kits for 10,000 people, grocery for 2500 daily wage workers and 100 acid attack survivors. Shah Rukh Khan will also donate to the PM-CARES fund and state relief funds along with providing 50,000 PPE kits to the government.

While Shah Rukh Khan’s series of initiatives have been applauded by one and all, Uddhav Thackeray took to his social media handle to thank the actor and his wife, who co-owns the companies, for their contribution to the cause. Following Maharashtra Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal also took to his social media handle to applaud his efforts and wrote, “Thank you Shah Rukh ji for you kind words. Your generous contribution will touch many lives in this difficult hour.”

The entire nation is holding stronger than ever and supporting each other in this unfortunate crisis. The aim is not only to provide relief funds but also to spread awareness about the preventive measures to curb the infection. Stay home and stay safe!
