A while ago the trailer of much-awaited period drama Panipat released online and created a lot of buzz around it. While the lead actor was heavily trolled for his acting, the majority of the internet pointed out similarities between the Arjun Kapoor starrer and Ranveer Singh’s Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat. Meanwhile, Panipat has found itself amidst bigger trouble for its dialogue.
Helmed and bankrolled by Ashutosh Gowariker, Panipat has an ensemble cast of Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, Sanjay Dutt, Zeenat Aman, Padmini Kolhapure among others. While the trailer of the movie received a mixed response from the audience, a dialogue mouthed by Kriti Sanon has disappointed the eighth-generation descendant of Peshwa Bajirao, Nawabzada Shadab Ali Bahadur.
According to him, the dialogue used in the trailer paints Mastani Sahiba in a bad picture and questions the character of Peshwa Bajirao as well. In the trailer, Kriti Sanon can be seen saying, “Maine suna hai Peshwa jab akele muhim par jaate hain to ek Mastani ke saath laut te hain” which translates to, “I have heard that whenever the Peshwa goes to the war alone, he returns with a Mastani.”

Nawabzada Shadab Ali Bahadur also mentioned that Mastani was Peshwa Bajirao’s wife and not just another woman in his life. He has sent a legal notice to the makers of the movie demanding the dialogue to be removed and assured that he would move to court if his request has not been fulfilled.
Meanwhile, starring Arjun Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Sanjay Dutt in prominent characters, Panipat heads towards a release slated on 6 December 2019.
