Actor Arjun Kapoor who has recently signed the film “Sardar Ka Grandson” says he did so, for his grandparents. Kapoor strongly believes that a story can be told more beautiful if an actor relates to it. It doesn’t necessarily have to be the character but could even be the overall emotions of the story.

His upcoming release, Sardar Ka Grandson, revolves around a grandmother’s last wish and the feelings that go with it. The film also features Neena Gupta, Rakulpreet Singh, Kanlwajit Singh, John Abraham, Aditi Rao Hydari and Kumud Mishra on the cast.

The actor says that his Nani (maternal grandmother) was a ferocious woman. She was suffering from cancer and was admitted to the hospital before taking her last breath but was still talking to him. The actor admits that his grandmother handled a major part of his finances till the day she passed away because he lost his mother. This was one of the reasons why he says that he felt close to his Nani. “She was a producer herself,” says Arjun.

In the film, Arjun is seen drawing a parallel between the character of Sardar which played by Neena Gupta, in the film and his maternal grandmother. “Sardar, this character, I think the way she behaves is very similar to my Nani,” tells Arjun.
Arjun clearly seems to have been very close to his grandparents.

He has been the grandchild who lived in a joint family. The reason why he signed up for Sardar Ka Grandson is when he visited his paternal grandmother, he couldn’t eat his food. He had to eat what she made. He chose this film because of this reason.
Arjun adds by saying that one can only tell a story if one relates to it. Again, Not necessarily to the main character but to the emotions the film invokes in you.

Arjun stresses by saying that the film is not an “instant gratification film”, but the one that needs to be felt. He reveals that did Ki & Ka for his mother and this movie for his grandparents very clearly. This is a far more intimate film as compared to any film he has done and it is definitely coming out at a time in which we need to value our near and dear ones. The film will release on May 18 on Netflix.
