Renowned singer Anu Malik has been synonymous with the singing reality show, Indian Idol, for years but the last season wasn’t in his favor post sexual harassment accusations against him. While the singer was dropped as the judge for the last season of Indian Idol, he returned as the judge for Indian Idol 11 but faced severe backlash.
Anu Malik was accused by multiple women for sexual harassment charges during the #MeToo movement and many people from the industry demanded his boycott. Following which, he was thrown out of the singing reality show for the last season but after pleading innocent, he was reinstated as a judge for the eleventh season of Indian Idol but apparently fans and other singing personalities weren’t happy with the decision.
While singers like Sona Mohapatra repeatedly called for necessary action against him and urged the Sony TV to drop him from the ongoing season of the singing show. Meanwhile, the National Commission of Women sent a notice to the channel as well to take action against the alleged singer, which made Anu Malik quit the show.
According to a source close to the show, Anu Malik will soon be replaced as a judge following the backlash and protest against the singer but the replacement hasn’t been finalized by the channel yet. Anu Malik, on the other hand, refused to comment on his exit from the show and kept his mum over the tussle.
