Legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar passed away on February 6 at the age of 92. She died due to COVID-19 related complications. The singer’s last rites were performed at the Shivaji Park in Mumbai on Sunday evening. The Bharat Ratna awardee was laid to rest with full state honors.

Soon after the news of Lata Mangeshkar’s death, several fans, politicians, and celebrities took to Twitter and paid tribute to the legendary singer. Many celebrities like Anupam Kher, Madhur Bhandarkar, Javed Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Sachin Tendulkar, Javed Akhtar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Lalit Pandit and others were spotted reaching Lata Mangeshkar’s house the day she passed away.

Lata Mangeshkar ventured into singing at the age of thirteen and recorded her first song in 1942. In her career spanning over decades, she has to her credit over 30,000 songs in different languages.

Lata-Mangeshkar-ENTNETWRK

Naturally, her life could provide a great source for cinema but that never happened. In fact, Mangeshkar had refused multiple requests from producers and directors to make a biopic on her.

While giving an interview to Hindustan Times in 2016, the singer had made her distaste for biographical movies apparent. When asked if she would like a film to be made on her, the Bharat Ratna winner had said: “I wouldn’t let a biopic be made on me. That’s because I don’t believe in them. I don’t like them.”

Not only film producers, as per reports, even OTT producers were also interested in capturing the life and journey of the “Queen of Melody.”

According to the reports, three big filmmakers are extremely keen to make a biopic on the peerless Lata Mangeshkar. But will the Mangeshkar family allow it? The three filmmakers keen to tell the amazing story of the Nightingale are Aanand L Rai, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and Sanjay Leela Bhansali. In fact, Bhansali has been living with the idea for ten years.

Now that the iconic singer is gone, Bhansali who is the keenest to do the needful is most anxious to go ahead with his dream project. However, the Mangeshkar family is apparently not going to allow any official bio-pics on Lataji’s unparalleled journey as Asia’s most successful singer.

The family plans to make a film on her life at some point,” reveals a source.
