A part of the strategic partnership between Warner Bros and Azure Entertainment, a Hindi remake of the Hollywood drama, The Intern, was announced with Deepika Padukone and Rishi Kapoor playing the main characters of a sceptical boss and a 70-year-old intern, respectively. However, after the unfortunate demise of Rishi Kapoor, the movie hit backburner.
The Hindi remake of The Intern was put on an indefinite halt after the untimely demise of the veteran actor but the makers have been trying to revive the project recently. Weeks ago, it was reported that the makers have started working on the script and crew. According to a source close to the development of the project, the latest report suggests that Amitabh Bachchan has been roped to play Rishi Kapoor’s character.
While there has been no official confirmation regarding the production or the cast of the movie, the rumours mills are churning that the makers are in talks with the principal cast of the movie to finalize dates for the movie. The Hindi remake is expected to go on the floors in the last quarter of the year.
The Hollywood movie, The Intern, was directed by Nancy Meyers and traces the journey of a 70-year-old widower Ben Whittaker, played by Robert De Niro, who joins a new-age start-up headed by Jules Ostin, played by Anne Hathaway. The movie takes us through how he adapts to the new job culture, and becomes a father figure to his boss, amidst a lot of drama, tears and feel-good moments.
