Amitabh Bachchan has been actively taking part in humanitarian causes to help Covid affected patients and procure medical resources where required. While the megastar has worked towards creating Covid speciality centres in multiple states, he recently joined hands with filmmaker Anand Pandit in setting up a 25-bed oxygen facility in Juhu.
Anand Pandit, who earlier teamed up with Ajay Devgn to establish a 20-bed ICU at Shivaji Park, was scouting for places in Juhu to set up another facility. When Amitabh Bachchan learnt about his efforts, he called the filmmaker to provide his support in any way possible and donated equipment and infrastructure for the facility. “When Amit ji heard that I was scouting for places in Juhu, he called me and said he wanted to help in every way possible. He has always supported my social initiatives wholeheartedly and also contributed his time and resources,” said Anand Pandit.
“A 25-bed oxygen facility has been set up at the Ritambhara Vishva Vidyapeeth in Juhu. After a trial run, the centre was up and running by 10 am on Tuesday, May 18. Mr Bachchan has donated the equipment and infrastructure for the facility and all necessary permissions have been granted by the BMC,” the filmmaker added.
Amitabh Bachchan recently collaborated with Anand Pandit for the thriller drama, Chehre, which also features Emraan Hashmi in a key role. The theatrical release of the movie has been postponed in the wake of the second wave of Coronavirus.
