Bollywood’s megastar Amitabh Bachchan has been entertaining the nation for half a century and the actor keeps pushing further to keep up with the current dynamics and deliver more fascinating characters. Co-starring Emraan Hashmi, Amitabh Bachchan recently had an outing with the thriller, Chehre, and impresses everyone with his long monologue.

Without any spoilers ahead, Amitabh Bachchan has delivered a significantly long monologue on violence against women in the Rumi Jaffery directorial which clocks a massive 13 minutes runtime. Talking about the same, filmmaker Anand Pandit shared that the monologue was Big B’s idea and played a very significant role in the plot of the movie taking the tension to another level. “He thought it would be a good idea to elevate the debate on the issue of rape and women’s safety in the film to another more universal level, and he was right,” Anand added.

Interestingly, the monologue is penned down by Amitabh Bachchan himself which makes it even more impressive. “Bachchan Saab wrote the entire monologue himself. Not just that he performed it in one take, at the end of which all of us broke into spontaneous applause. We now intend to use that 13-minute monologue as a video on women’s safety to be distributed free of cost to all organizations devoted to creating a safe environment for women,” proclaims the producer of the movie.

Amitabh Bachchan has always been an advocate for women’s safety in the country and has expressed his concerns about sexual violence against women time and again. The monologue in the movie is his take on the system and therefore makes it more genuine and appalling.

Helmed by Rumi Jaffery, Chehre features Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi, Rhea Chakroborty, and Krystle D’Souza in key roles. The movie had a theatrical release on 27 August.
