The much-awaited Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, has become a box office juggernaut since its release on December 5, 2024. With its global success continuing to break records, fans have another reason to celebrate – reports about its OTT release date have emerged.
The sequel picks up from Pushpa: The Rise, which left audiences on the edge of their seats with a gripping cliffhanger. Pushpa 2 dives deeper into the rivalry between Allu Arjun’s Pushpa Raj, a rising smuggler, and Fahadh Faasil’s SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, an ambitious IPS officer. The stakes are higher this time, as Pushpa takes his battles beyond borders, while Bhanwar Singh wages war to reclaim his pride. Rashmika Mandanna reprises her role as Srivalli, Pushpa’s wife, alongside an ensemble cast featuring Jagapathi Babu, Dhananjaya, Rao Ramesh, Sunil, and Anasuya Bharadwaj.
Reports suggest Netflix shelled out a staggering ₹275 crores to secure the film’s exclusive streaming rights. According to 123 Telugu, Pushpa 2 is expected to arrive on the OTT platform on January 9, 2025. However, given the movie’s phenomenal success in theatres, producers might delay the digital premiere to maximize box office collections. This means fans could see the film on OTT as late as February 2025, after completing an 8-week theatrical run. An official confirmation from the makers and Netflix is still awaited.
On the box office front, Pushpa 2: The Rule continues to dominate, amassing an extraordinary ₹940.75 crores net in India alone. The film recently overtook KGF Chapter 2 to claim the title of the second-highest-grossing Indian film across all languages. With its momentum showing no signs of slowing down, Pushpa 2 is now inching closer to surpassing Baahubali 2 (₹1031 crores) to claim the top spot.
