Alia Bhatt is one of the leading ladies of the current decade who has, again and again, proved herself in the entertainment industry. While the actress is known to be bold and mature, she has had her share of downtimes on the personal front which she opened up recently.

In a recent conversation at the We The Women event, Alia Bhatt shared the struggles of her sister, Shaheen Bhatt, who has been through major depression. While talking about it, Alia Bhatt broke down in tears as she said that she learned about her sister’s condition only after she published a book about her mental health and struggles.

“I felt terrible as a sister. I didn’t put myself out there enough to understand her.” the actress said for not being able to understand her sister’s agony. “I have only believed that she is the most brilliant person in my family. To some extent, she has never believed that about her own self but that always broke my heart. I was sensitive but I feel guilty for not understanding as much as I should have.” the Gully Boy actress added.

Shaheen Bhatt released her debut book, I’ve Never Been (un)Happier, a year ago which shared a personal account of her battle with depression. Her book was well received by everyone and encouraged her to write Here Comes The Sun. Alia Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt have always been supportive of their sister, Shaheen Bhatt.
