Karan Johar’s Dharam Productions is all set for multiple releases this year. The first one to be out from the production house is Akshay Kumar starrer war drama ‘Kesari’ based on the Saragarhi Battle of 1897.

The trailer of which was released on 21st February and it is ought to give you goosebumps. Said to be one of Akshay’s most ambitious project till date, the actor is seen in his most fierce, intense and badass avatar as Havildar Ishar Singh, the one who lead the Battle of Saragarhi with an army of 21 soldiers against 10,000 Afghan invaders during British India’s Raj.

Directed by Anurag Singh, the movie is an ode to the Sikhs  who are known for their loyalty, humility & nondiscriminatory attitude towards everyone and every religion.

Hawildar Ishar Singh, a proud, warm yet fierce Sikh soldier of the 36th Sikh regiment is often conflicting and resisting orders from the Britishers. He is sent to the Saragarhi fort as a punishment for resisting their orders.

It is at the fort Ishar meets 20 unruly Sikh soldiers who later on are lead by him to fight the battle of Saragarhi against the Afghani Pathan invaders on 12th September 1897, one of the the bravest war ever fought on Indian land by the Sikhs. It speaks of their undying valour, bravery, strength, will power and true patriotism.

The film also stars Parineeti Chopra, Bhagyashree and Edward Sonnenblick in brief, yet pivotal characters. Releasing  on 21st March 2019, Kesari promises to be an overwhelming cinematic experience from its trailer.
