The massive box office run of Dhurandhar The Revenge is now beginning to impact other releases, with Akshay Kumar’s Bhooth Bangla facing a potential shift in its release date.
Originally slated to arrive in cinemas on April 10, the horror comedy is now under review as the Ranveer Singh starrer continues to dominate theatres. The film’s strong hold on Monday has indicated that its momentum is unlikely to slow down anytime soon, raising concerns about screen availability and audience attention.
According to industry buzz, the makers of Bhooth Bangla are now weighing two options. They can either stick to the April 10 release or push the film by a week to April 17, a date that currently has no major Hindi release lined up.
Trade insiders suggest that Dhurandhar The Revenge could continue its strong performance well into its fourth week, which would directly clash with Bhooth Bangla if it releases as planned. However, there is also another perspective. By early April, a large section of the audience might have already watched Dhurandhar 2, which could open up space for a fresh release.
Given this uncertainty, Akshay Kumar and producer Ekta Kapoor are closely monitoring the situation and are expected to take a final call within the next 24 hours.
The release strategy will also impact the film’s promotional timeline. If Bhooth Bangla sticks to April 10, the makers are likely to drop the theatrical trailer on March 27. If the film is postponed, the trailer launch will be pushed accordingly.
Bhooth Bangla marks the much-awaited reunion of Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan after nearly 16 years. The film also features a strong ensemble cast including Tabu, Wamiqa Gabbi, Rajpal Yadav, Paresh Rawal and the late Asrani.
With both films generating strong interest for very different reasons, the final decision on Bhooth Bangla’s release date is now being closely watched by the industry.
