Fans of Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar will have to wait a bit longer to see him in the much-anticipated comedy film Welcome To The Jungle. The film’s release, originally slated for Christmas 2024, has been pushed back to 2025.
While the exact reason for the postponement is not clarified, the reports suggest the delay is due to the ongoing production. The film still requires multiple shooting schedules, making it impossible to meet the tight Christmas 2024 deadline. This shift in the release date also avoids a potential box office clash with Aamir Khan’s Sitare Zameen Par and the Hollywood release of Mufasa: The Lion King, both slated for December 2024.
Earlier reports indicated that producer Firoz A Nadiadwala intended to release Welcome To The Jungle during the lucrative Christmas weekend, mirroring the release strategy of the first Welcome film in 2007. However, the latest updates reveal that the production timeline necessitated a change in plans.
The film has a gigantic assembled cast of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever, Rajpal Yadav, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, Krushna Abhishek, Kiku Sharda, Daler Mehndi, Mika Singh, Rahul Dev, Mukesh Tiwari, Sharib Hashmi, Inaamulhaq, Zakir Hussain, Yashpal Sharma, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Disha Patani. Sanjay Dutt was originally part of the film but has now opted out.
On a related note, Aamir Khan has recently completed shooting for Sitare Zameen Par. A video has gone viral on social media showing Aamir spending quality time with the cast and crew of the film. The actor is seen sharing a conversation in the video, and another photo shows a clapboard of the film, confirming that the shoot has wrapped.
