Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar is on a roll with the release date announcement of his upcoming movies and has confirmed booking Diwali for the current and next year. In a recent media interaction, the actor confirmed a direct-digital release of his upcoming movie with Dhanush and Sara Ali Khan, Atrangi Re.
Atrangi Re has been one of the most anticipated movies of the three actors and it will be the first time, they will be sharing screen space with each other. Helmed by critically acclaimed director, Aanand L Rai, the movie wrapped filming early this year and the makers had been waiting for the pandemic situation to normalize for the release of the movie. However, the latest report suggests that it will be released on the OTT giant.
The makers are in advanced talks with Netflix for an exclusive release of the movie. However, the contract is yet to be signed. The release date of the movie will be locked once the deal is signed and sealed with the OTT giant. Post Atrangi Re, Akshay Kumar will be reuniting with Aanand L Rai for Raksha Bandhan which will have a traditional theatrical release.
Helmed by Aanand L Rai, Atangi Re features Akshay Kumar, Sara Ali Khan, Dhanush and Nimrat Kaur in the key roles. The movie features Sara Ali Khan in a double role and will be seen romancing both Akshay Kumar and Dhanush in the cross-cultural love story.
