Akshay Kumar is best known for his philanthropy works and the actor has always come forward for the nation’s support. While the actor was the first to donate to the PM-CARES Fund after Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged everyone to donate for the cause, he pledged another donation to BMC.
The Hera Pheri actor had lent his support to the government to fight the viral pandemic and donated 25 crore Indian rupees in less than an hour of the request by the Prime Minister. Following his footsteps, a number of Bollywood celebrities, big or small, came forward and pledged support to relief funds. While despite huge donations across the country, nothing is enough at the moment to fight Coronavirus which has claimed over 90 thousand lives around the globe.
Making another donation to the cause, Akshay Kumar gave 3 crore Indian rupees to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for making Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), masks, and rapid testing kits. The aim is to advance the testing of COVID-19 in the state while protecting medical professionals since Maharashtra is the most hit state of the country.
Earlier, Akshay Kumar also took to his social media handle to thank those working on the frontline in the fight against Coronavirus and applauded them for their service.
