After a successful theatrical run, Jolly LLB 3, starring Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, is all set to make its digital debut this Friday, November 14. In an interesting twist, the courtroom drama will reportedly be available on not one but two major streaming platforms, Netflix and JioHotstar.
A source revealed, “It’s quite rare for a film to release simultaneously on two streaming platforms, as most producers usually sign exclusive deals. However, in the case of Jolly LLB 3, both Netflix and JioHotstar are expected to stream the film, which is why their logos appeared together in the film’s opening slate.”
While the strategy has piqued industry curiosity, it is still unclear whether both platforms will stream Jolly LLB 3 on the same day or follow a staggered release schedule.
The move reflects a growing trend among filmmakers and streaming services to share digital rights to offset rising costs and reach a wider audience. Earlier this year, John Abraham’s political thriller Tehran followed a similar model, premiering first on ZEE5 on August 14 and arriving on Netflix two weeks later on August 28. Maddock Films’ titles like Mimi (2021) and Dasvi (2022) were also simultaneously available on both Netflix and JioCinema.
According to a July 19 report in The Economic Times, several OTT platforms are increasingly adopting content-sharing arrangements. For instance, Viduthalai 2 streamed first on Amazon Prime Video and later on ZEE5 after a three-month gap, while Telugu hit Mazaka followed a similar pattern, debuting on ZEE5 before releasing on Prime Video a month later.
With Jolly LLB 3 gearing up for its double-platform digital release, audiences will soon be able to revisit the witty courtroom clashes and powerful performances from Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi from the comfort of their homes.
