The Hindi-language fantasy comedy, Thank God, has been the talk of the town lately after the release of its trailer. The first look at the Indra Kumar directorial received a mixed response from the audience for its satire comedy and has irked many religious groups. While a UP-based lawyer had filed a legal suit against the makers of the film for hurting religious sentiments, the movie has found itself banned in Kuwait.

According to the latest report, the Sidharth Malhotra, Rakul Preet Singh and Ajay Devgn starrer Thank God has not been passed by the Censor Board of the State of Kuwait as they have decided to stop the release of the film in the city. While there have been no official comments on the reason for the ban, it is being speculated that the satirical comedy on religious views in the movie has made the Censor Board take the harsh decision. Meanwhile, the Censor Board of Kuwait has green-lighted the releases of all other Indian movies including Chup, Goodbye and Sinam.

Thank God portrays the story of a common man played by Sidharth Malhotra who meets Chitragupt, portrayed by Ajay Devgn, in his afterlife, after he meets with an accident. While the film portrays Ajay Devgn as the modern-day Chitragupt, it is a social comedy that showcases him in a funny avatar. Earlier, a UP-based lawyer moved the court by filing a complaint against the makers of the film for hurting religious sentiments as well as mocking the religion.

Helmed by Indra Kumar, Thank God features Sidharth Malhotra, Rakul Preet Singh and Ajay Devgn in the key roles. Nora Fatehi also plays a cameo in the movie as an ‘apsara’. The comedy-drama is slated for a release on 24th October 2022 amid the call for a boycott.
