After the recent postponement of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, another planned March release has now been pushed back. Sunny Deol’s upcoming film Gabru, which also features a special appearance by Salman Khan, will no longer hit cinemas next month as originally scheduled.
Gabru was earlier slated for a March 13 theatrical release. However, the makers have decided to delay the film and are currently exploring new release window options. An official announcement regarding the revised date is expected once a suitable slot is locked.
While no formal reason has been shared for the delay, industry chatter suggests multiple factors are at play. The holy month of Ramzan begins in mid-March, which could impact footfalls from certain sections of the audience. At the same time, two major titles Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic are gearing up for a March 19 release, setting the stage for a significant box office clash. Given Sunny Deol’s strong recent run, especially after the massive success of Gadar 2 and Border 2, the decision to move Gabru to a less crowded period appears to be a strategic one.
Directed by Shashank Udapurkar and produced by Vishal Rana, Gabru has already generated buzz due to Salman Khan’s extended cameo. The superstar reportedly shot for the film quietly over a year ago and appears in three scenes. His role is said to be emotional, charming, and an important addition to the narrative rather than a blink-and-miss appearance.
Interestingly, Gabru is the second notable film to be postponed from the March calendar after Pati Patni Aur Woh Do was also pushed ahead. With both titles stepping aside, questions are being raised about whether March will see any major releases beyond Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic. The coming days are likely to bring more clarity on how the release slate finally shapes up.
