A few months ago, filmmaker Shankar announced a collaboration with Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani for the remake of the iconic thriller drama, Anniyan (Aparachit), and the fans went gaga over the news. However, soon after the announcement, the makers found themselves in the middle of a legal soup and the production has been halted indefinitely. In the meantime, the latest we hear is that the director is still collaborating with Ranveer and Kiara but on a different project.
According to a source close to the filmmaker, Shankar is in discussion with Ranveer Singh and Kiara Advani for another project. Shankar had blocked the bulk dates of the superstars for the remake of Anniyan and are looking forward to converting the collaboration to another big project. As per the reports, the filmmaker has proposed the idea to Ranveer and the actor is willing to work with him. If everything goes as planned, the untitled movie will be set in the same timeline with the same crew locked in for the remake.
For the unversed, V Ravichandran, the original producer of the Vikram starrer Anniyan, called for a stop on the production of the remake with immediate effect after he claimed the original right of the story. He further filed a legal complaint against Shankar for a copyright claim and led to the halt of production activities of the ambitious project.
