Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who is best known for his fitness ethics, has been in the headlines recently for promoting an ‘Elaichi Brand’ which is also the manufacturer of tobacco products. While the actor has finally decided to open up on the controversy and publically issue an apology for hurting the sentiments of his fans, another actor Ajay Devgn has shared his views on promoting the same brand.
For the unversed, after facing backlash from the fans and trollers alike, Akshay Kumar apologized for being part of the ‘Elaichi’ universe and promoting the surrogate advertisement for tobacco products. The actor also pledged to donate the endorsement fee to a good cause and step back from the controversial advertisement. Meanwhile, Ajay Devgn, who also shared the screen with Akshay Kumar and Shah Rukh Khan in the endorsement, opened up on the overall controversy of promoting ‘unhealthy’ products.
In his recent interaction with Indian Express, Ajay Devgn weighed in and called it ‘a personal choice’. “When you do something, you also see how harmful it would be. Somethings are harmful, some are not. I would say it without naming it because I don’t want to promote it; I was doing elaichi. What I feel is more than advertisements, if certain things are so wrong, then they should not be sold,” he added. On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan had also recently joined Ajay Devgn in the endorsement and he also received heavy criticism from his fans.
