Aditya Roy Kapur, who gained fame as Rahul Jayakar in Aashiqui 2 alongside Shraddha Kapoor, recently opened up about Kartik Aaryan replacing him in Aashiqui 3. The duo’s on-screen chemistry in Aashiqui 2 reportedly translated into a real-life romance, even though their relationship was short-lived. The announcement of Aashiqui 3 with Kartik Aaryan as the lead last September sparked curiosity, and now, ARK has broken his silence on the replacement.

In the recent episode of Koffee With Karan Season 8, Aditya Roy Kapur appeared alongside his close friend Arjun Kapoor. While discussing their career journeys and box office experiences, attention turned to Aditya’s reaction to Kartik Aaryan taking over his iconic role in Aashiqui 3.

During the conversation, Karan Johar asked Aditya how he feels about being replaced, to which he responded, “I think he’s the perfect person to take the baton forward. There was no chance I could be in this because, in the second part, my character went for a long swim, from which he is not returning. I think it’s great. I died; where will I come back now? My spirit will come back.”

Aditya Roy Kapur humorously mentioned that he would have to return as a spirit to be part of Aashiqui 3. Karan Johar playfully added that it would be amusing to see him as a ghost haunting Kartik Aaryan for taking over his popular role.

Meanwhile, Kartik Aaryan officially announced Aashiqui 3 on his Instagram last year, with Anurag Basu set to direct the film.
