Indian actor Aditya Roy Kapur was rumoured to lead a web series directed by filmmaker duo, Raj & DK, and after months, it has been confirmed that the actor will be headlining the action thriller series, Rakhtabeej. The web series featuring Aditya as the male lead will also mark the reunion of the director duo and Samantha Ruth Prabhu after Family Man 2.
Aditya made his digital debut with Anurag Basu’s directorial Ludo in 2020 and followed with the thriller series The Night Manager last year. The actor continues to invest in the OTT space with the action thriller Rakhtabeej to be helmed by Raj & DK, best known for directing the superhit web series, The Family Man. According to reports, Kapur was in discussions with Raj & DK for half a year before signing the dotted line. Following Kapur’s commitment, Samantha Ruth Prabhu came on board as the female lead.
Aditya Roy Kapur and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be sharing the screen for the first time with the upcoming actioner and the two have already started preparing for their respective characters. The actors are also expected to participate in joint training sessions to enhance their onscreen combat skills given the action-heavy nature of Rakhtabeej.
Along with Rakhtabeej in the making, Raj & DK are also focused on completing the next season of Manoj Bajpayee starrer The Family Man. On the other hand, Prabhu will also be joining the director duo for another web series, Citadel: Honey Bunny.
