Once again, India’s entertainment industry shines on the global stage. The Hindi adaptation of John le Carré’s renowned novel, The Night Manager, featuring Aditya Roy Kapur, Anil Kapoor, and Samantha Ruth Prabhu, has been nominated for the International Emmy Awards 2024 in the Best Drama Series category. This is a momentous achievement for India, as it stands as the only Indian entry this year.

The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences recently unveiled the nominations. Bruce L. Paisner, President & CEO of the Academy, commended the nominated programs for their ability to cross cultural barriers, emphasizing that exceptional storytelling resonates with audiences worldwide, regardless of its origin.

Adding to the anticipation, Indian comedian and actor Vir Das has been chosen to host the 2024 International Emmy Awards. Vir Das, who previously earned an Emmy nomination for his Netflix specials, expressed his excitement and gratitude for this honour, marking another milestone in Indian representation on the international stage.

The Night Manager, based on John le Carré’s espionage classic, follows the story of a former soldier turned night manager at a luxury hotel, who intelligence agencies recruit to infiltrate the network of a dangerous arms dealer. Produced by The Ink Factory and Banijay Asia, the Indian adaptation offers a suspense-filled plot with an exceptional ensemble cast.

Directed by Sandeep Modi, the series stars Anil Kapoor, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sobhita Dhulipala, Tillotama Shome, Saswata Chatterjee, and Ravi Behl. It made its debut on Disney+ Hotstar, capturing the audience’s attention with its gripping narrative.

In this adaptation, Aditya Roy Kapur takes on the role of Shaan Sengupta, a night manager at a hotel in Dhaka, who finds himself caught up in the dangerous world of international arms dealing, led by Shailendra, played by Anil Kapoor. A fateful encounter with a violent crime pulls Shaan into a high-stakes game of survival, espionage, and deception.
