Actor Abhishek Banerjee says he owes it to the OTT platform as it has helped him change his image in showbiz. Earlier, the actor says that he was only being offered comic roles, but now due to OTT shows it helped him change that narrative.

There is a nice word that people use, it’s ‘quirky’. He says, emphasising that he was only getting really quirky roles earlier. This got him a little worried as to why this was happening. Eventually, he was bored of it. But now he feels grateful that ‘Paatal Lok’ changed that monotony. He believes that people will finally learn that he can do a lot more than comedy and capable of more type of roles.

The actor, therefore, believes that he is able to prove his versatility because of OTT. He says that the OTT platform has given him the audience’s eyes and stature. But most importantly it has given him the status and position of a well-rounded actor. Before OTT, he was doing only being offered comic roles and he was tired of this monotony.

He would think that he is not made only for comedy but can do a lot of other characters and he was quite prepared to play different roles. All his training, he believes is to prove his versatility to the filmmakers and the audience.

Abhishek says that while he was certain about “Paatal Lok” going well, but he had not thought that it would be becoming so popular. He was sure about being a part of something special and knew In his heart that this was not like what he had given before. His first film ‘Stree’ was different and that’s why he was scared about what to do, but during ‘Paatal Lok’, he could comprehend that what he was doing right or wrong. The actor felt confident that the film would do good at the box office but hadn’t anticipated that it would do so well. “I didn’t understand the word ‘viral’ before it released,” he comments.

Before the launch of the trailer, Banerjee recalls being in a bad shape. He had just finished his shoot and a lot of things were lined up, but suddenly they had to stop everything due to the lockdown. He would complain to the universe as to why has it chosen him to be the victim but the moment the trailer hit the OTT channels, everything turned around and he realised that it was a gift from the universe. He was totally in gratitude and feels that it completely changed his life.

Talking about more on his work front, he says that he wants to take projects that come with moral values and responsibilities.
