Aamir Khan’s elder son, Junaid Khan, has been in the news lately for his Bollywood debut and it was earlier reported that he will mark his Bollywood debut under the production banner of Yash Raj Films. The movie titled Maharaja starring Junaid Khan as the protagonist has gone on the floors on Monday.
According to a source close to the development of the movie, massive sets were constructed for the project which is said to be set in the early 1860s. The movie is reported to be based on the Maharaj Libel Case filed by the head of a religious section in relation to the godman Jadunathji Brijratanji Maharaj, who was accused of sexual liaisons with his female devotees by a newspaper.
Helmed by Hichki director Siddharth P Malhotra, Maharaja stars Junaid Khan as the key character of journalist Karsandas Mulji who exposed the godman and fell in a legal dispute. The period-drama also stars Shalini Pandey, Sharvari Wagh, and Jaideep Ahlawat in pivotal characters.
