Due to poor box office performance, Aamir Khan decided to cut down his acting fees

Advait Chandan’s Laal Singh Chaddha, starring Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, has turned out to be the biggest disappointment of the year. Aamir Khan’s Laal Singh Chaddha was one of the most anticipated films of 2022 but its dismal results at the Indian box office have reportedly cost the star with a heavy loss. The film failed to even earn Rs 60 crore at the domestic box office and now reports suggest that Aamir has decided to absorb the losses of the film by forgoing his fee.

Bollywood Hungama reported that the producers Viacom 18 lost Rs 100 crore on the film but the loss would be relatively small for the studio if Aamir decides to let go of his fee. Reports also suggest that Aamir has spent four years working on the film, so technically he’s not making any money from the film if he does not charge a fee.

Previous reports from the publication suggested that there was an increasing rift between Aamir Khan Productions and the studio after the failure of the Forrest Gump remake. The promotional activity of the film was not approved by the studio which caused a rift between the two parties.

Aamir had proudly stated that he would release the film on OTT platforms only after six months of its release, but the film’s fate at the box office has reportedly made the creators reconsider that decision, and they will now release it on OTT in just eight weeks. Laal Singh Chaddha’s international collection did not disappoint as the film has earned well in the USA, Canada and UK.

Earlier, a mysterious apology video titled “Michhami Dukkadam” appeared on Aamir Khan Productions’ Twitter account. A voiceover in the post adds “We are all human and we only make mistakes. Sometimes we do it with words, sometimes with actions, sometimes unconsciously, sometimes out of anger.” Also, during one of the promotions, Aamir apologized profusely for hurting anyone’s feelings and emphasized that he loves his country contrary to popular belief and requested everyone to watch the film and not boycott it.

Aamir Khan has now chosen to take full blame for the film and suffer alone. His opportunity cost on Laal Singh Chaddha is over Rs 100 crores, but he has decided to absorb all losses and take full responsibility for failure. For those of you who don’t know, Aamir Khan has now taken a two-month break from work and decided to spend some time alone with his family in the USA.
