In a heartfelt move, Aamir Khan has postponed the trailer release of his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par in the wake of the devastating terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. The attack, which occurred on April 22, claimed the lives of 26 people, including tourists, a recently married Navy officer, and an Intelligence Bureau official. The incident has left the nation mourning, and the film’s team has chosen to delay promotions out of respect for the victims.
Originally scheduled to be unveiled this week, the trailer launch has now been put on hold. A source close to the project shared with Hindustan Times, “Aamir and his team felt it wouldn’t be appropriate to go ahead with the trailer release right now. A new date will be announced in due time.”
The horrific attack unfolded in the middle of the afternoon, when gunmen opened fire on a group of tourists. Among the deceased were two foreign nationals—from the UAE and Nepal—as well as two locals. The tragedy has sent shockwaves across the country.
Marking Aamir Khan’s return to the big screen after Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022, Sitaare Zameen Par is one of the most awaited films of the year. Starring Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh, the movie is said to be a spiritual successor to the 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par.
Adding to the anticipation, actor Darsheel Safary, who won hearts with his performance in the original film, is expected to introduce the trailer. A source close to the production revealed, “Darsheel will be launching the trailer for Sitaare Zameen Par. He played a pivotal role in making Taare Zameen Par a classic, and it’s exciting to see him associated with this sequel in a significant way.”
As the nation processes this tragedy, the makers have chosen empathy and timing over promotion. Fans now await further updates on when the trailer will finally make its debut.
