Indian actor Aamir Khan has been working on his upcoming movie, Laal Singh Chaddha, for the longest in a row and the actor has been away from the big screens since his last release, Thugs of Hindostan, in 2018. While the actor is all prepared to woo his audience with the epic, the recent trend on the micro-blogging site to boycott his movie has influenced him and he has finally shared his take on the situation.

For the unversed, netizens have been targeting Aamir Khan for his alleged anti-national comments that he made years ago for a while. With the promotions of his upcoming release, the campaign to boycott his movies has again seen the light of the day. The hashtag ‘BoycottLaalSinghChaddha’ has been trending over the micro-blogging website, Twitter, and the actor has finally opened up on the matter in a recent media interaction.

When asked if such campaigns affect him, the actor said, “Yes, I feel sad. Also, I feel sad that some of the people who are saying this, in their heart, they believe that I am someone who doesn’t like India. In their hearts they believe, but it is untrue. It is rather unfortunate that some people feel that way. That’s not the case. Please don’t boycott my film. Please watch my film.”

In 2015, Aamir made a controversial statement in an interview where he said: “Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill-will”. His ex-wife Kiran Rao also made headlines for saying that she considered leaving the country for the safety of their children.

Helmed by Advait Chandan, Laal Singh Chaddha is an official Hindi remake of the Academy Award-winning 1994 film Forrest Gump and features Aamir Khan in the titular character. The movie also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh and Chaitanya Akkineni among others in key roles.
