Highly regarded public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam might soon find his life story portrayed on the silver screen, with none other than Aamir Khan taking on the role. This project, which has been the subject of speculation for some time, has now been officially confirmed by cinematographer-director Avinash Arun, known for his acclaimed Marathi film, Killa.
Director Avinash Arun has unequivocally confirmed his collaboration with Aamir Khan on the Ujjwal Nikam biopic. When asked for details, Arun stated, “Yes, we are in discussions.” Upon closer examination, it emerged that Aamir Khan has reservations about playing the character and is leaning towards a role as a producer for the Ujjwal Nikam biopic. However, Avinash Arun insists that he will take on the director’s role only if Aamir agrees to both produce and portray the lead character.
Aamir Khan’s most recent appearance on the big screen was in the film Laal Singh Chaddha, which released last year. Directed by Advait Chandan and produced under Aamir Khan Productions, the movie served as the official Hindi adaptation of the Hollywood classic, Forrest Gump. The cast also featured Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, Naga Chaitanya, and Manav Vij in prominent roles.
In his role as a producer, Aamir’s upcoming project is the offbeat comedy Laapataa Ladies. Co-produced by his production company and Jio Studios, this film is helmed by Kiran Rao and stars Nitanshi Goel, Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Shrivastava, Chhaya Kadam, and Ravi Kishan. Its theatrical release is scheduled for January 5, 2024.
