Ajay Devgn starrer Maidaan went on the floors earlier this year and shot some indoor and outdoor portions of the movie in the cities of Uttar Pradesh. However, for a major chunk of the movie, a massive 16-acre set was built in the heart of Mumbai but the makers were not able to use the same due to the Coronavirus pandemic and the nationwide lockdown.
Major film bodies announced a suspension of all production activities of the entertainment industry in the mid-March and since then no shooting has taken place in the country. Now, considering the unexpected situation that has arrived due to the ongoing viral pandemic and the forthcoming season of monsoon, the makers of the movie have decided to dismantle the set built for the movie in Mumbai.
Filmmaker Boney Kapoor has confirmed the news of the set being dismantled expecting rain any day as the country is entering in the monsoon season. While there has been no official announcement for resuming the shootings of the movies, the makers are expecting to resume the shooting in the month of November. Considering the size of the movie set, it will take a couple months to rebuild the entire set again so if the shooting is to resume in November, the makers will start rebuilding the set in the month of September.
Helmed by Amit Sharma, Maidaan is a biographical sports drama of Abdul Sayed Rahim set in the golden era of Indian football. The movie stars Ajay Devgn in the lead character while Priyamani will play the character of his love interest.
